The Athetican Adventure

‘May your footsteps leave only friends behind’

What’s the bet that She-Elf  has tiny, tiny little pointy ears’ Degaz slurred holding his thumb and index fingers together ‘wee wee little pointy things under that hood’ gesturing to Daemon next to him.

Yeap, they probably are’ Daemon retorted ‘but it’s a foolish man who insults an elven mage, even if they have, tiny pointy ears’ bursting into laughter and then shouting ‘more beer for my friend and me’.

Ignoring the commotion, the She-Elf and her Halfling companion sat deep in conversation enjoying a good meal with wine, while watching the tavern.  The local Westwinds tavern folk quickly marked them as travelers to be respectfully left alone.

‘Avalon, we need work and coin to pay our way’ Simon stated coldly.

‘I know, but your way of working doesn’t sit well with me’ Avalon looked at him ‘it’s stealing pure and simple

“Yes, but its works, and it feeds us’ Simon

“And nearly put us in jail.  Remember’  she interrupted him. ‘A minor miscalculation you said

The pair settled back into their seats continuing their meal.

Entering through the Tavern door came a Dwarf and Human, well-dressed merchants who took a position at the far end of the bar near Simon and Avalon’s table.

‘If I could have your attention for a moment, please.  I am Sikgar and my partner here is Gunny’  Sikgar look out across the tavern ‘We’re looking for good men to escort a wagon of supplies to Andalian.  We’re willing to pay handsomely for those willing to enter into a contract for their services.  My partner and I will be sitting here for the next hour if you’re interested’  Sikgar turned whispering to the barman then proceeded to sit at a windowed alcove at the end of the bar.

‘That’s our meal ticket’ Simon said. ‘Let’s see who approaches first’ Avalon replied.  Over the next 25 minutes a steady stream of thugs, thieves, mercenaries, and disparate fellows approached and were rejected.  Only a tall noble-looking Archer managed a prolonged conversation which ended in a handshake between them.  Asok the Archer sat next to the pair at the table.

Eventually, Daemon and Degaz approached Sikgar reeking of Ale and barely unable to stand, they shook hands and then promptly collapsed on the floor.  Finally, Avalon and Simon, approached and introduced themselves, after a brief negotiation shook hands, and sat at the table.  Avalon pulled her hood down.

‘I win!’ Degaz yelled ‘told you! tiny pointy ears!’
